The Muslim marriage app for Glasgow and Scotland.
Glasgow is home to Scotland’s largest Muslim community, from Pollokshields and Govanhill to Woodlands and the West End. Zawaj helps Muslims in Glasgow — and in Edinburgh, Dundee and beyond — meet people who are serious about nikah.
A close community, with a small pool.
Many Glasgow Muslim families have Pakistani, often Punjabi, heritage going back generations, alongside Arab, African, Afghan and convert Muslims, and a large student community. Mosques, family networks and the occasional rishta event have long been how people met.
But Scotland’s Muslim community is much smaller than England’s, and everyone seems to know everyone. Many people find the right person simply isn’t in their circle. Zawaj lets you search Glasgow, the rest of Scotland or across the UK — quietly, and with clear intentions from the first proposal.
Built for how Glasgow Muslims actually search.
Glasgow, Scotland and beyond
Search close to home, include Edinburgh and Dundee, or widen to the north of England and the rest of the UK if you are open to moving.
Your family, your way
Bring your wali or parents in through the built-in Chaperone/Wali feature whenever you are ready. Sisters can send a written proposal too.

Getting married in Scotland: different rules.
Scottish marriage law is not the same as in England and Wales. In Scotland, a celebrant authorised by their religious body can solemnise a legally valid marriage, so a nikah can also be your legal marriage if the imam is authorised. Both partners must give notice to the local registrar in advance — generally at least 29 days before the ceremony. Check the current rules with National Records of Scotland or your local registrar, and ask your imam whether they are authorised.
Wondering how much a nikah costs? It varies, but the Sunnah is to keep marriage easy and simple. Read how to get married in Islam, step by step and nikah in the UK.
