Divorced Muslim matrimony in the UK: a respectful way to remarry.

You are not alone

Many British Muslims remarry after divorce or the death of a spouse, and many people searching are in the same position. A previous marriage is part of your story, not a mark against your worth. Read second marriage in Islam and can a divorced Muslim woman remarry?

Before you search

Take the time you need to heal. Check that your previous marriage has ended properly, religiously and legally, and understand your iddah and your obligations to children. If you were married by nikah only, take advice. See khula and Islamic divorce in the UK and registering a Muslim marriage.

Privacy and control

On Zawaj you choose who sees your photos, and you can blur them. There is no swiping, and calls open only after a written proposal is accepted. You can report or block anyone. See safety and privacy.

Family and wali

Most schools of thought involve a wali in the nikah. The Chaperone/Wali feature lets a parent, wali or trusted relative join a conversation when you choose. See involving your wali.

Being honest on your profile

Say plainly that you are divorced or widowed, and if you have children. It filters towards people who are comfortable with it, and it saves heartache later. See how to write a good marriage profile and remarriage for divorced and widowed Muslim women.
