Marriage licence and nikah in Ontario.
To be legally married in Ontario you need an Ontario marriage licence, and the ceremony must be performed by an officiant registered in the province. Many GTA imams are registered officiants, so couples often hold the nikah and the legal marriage together.
A licence is only valid for a limited time after it is issued, so apply once you have a date in mind and confirm what documents your officiant needs.
